Little turns one!

Hi there! I am still here, I am just in party planning mode. My sweet baby girl turned 1 on Valentine's day!
I can hardly believe it myself.
We threw her a lovely party on Sunday, yes with a Valentine's theme, of course. It was heart to resist all those sweet hearts, especially if you knew how sweet Little is.
I made those precious felt hearts to give out as Little's Valentine to all her party guest. I made them in three different sizes and also used them as decorations.
I adore them.
On the photography front I hope you have been enjoying my new website. I have to say, I am in love! I have been getting some awesome feedback from you all as well. So lets see, I got a new logo, I got my new website, what is left to revamp? My BLOG! That's right, my blog is in the process of being redesigned as well. I am really excited about all of these changes!

The long awaited day has finally arrived. The UPS man even came earlier that morning. He came bearing gifts. Gifts I have waited for a long long time. He brought my iPhone!
Verizon has not had the iPhone until just now, and I got in on an early release. I sold my brand new iPod touch to for this all in one beauty! I know it will serve me well as I am out and about photographing. It will help lead the way with GPS, allow me to check e-mails, and maybe every once in a send a tweet or a status update.
What apps do you love on your iPhone or iPod? What ones are good for photographers to have?
I would love to hear the reasons why you love you iPhone or smart phone!

Nothing compares to Apple's packaging and branding. I love how sleek and streamlined they are with all of their products!

"Studio" Tour ~ Black Mountain Photographer

I should be a little embarrassed to show you my old work station, but I am more proud of my new "studio"! I was so tired of working at a baker's rack with no where for my knees to go. There were two side tables with junk all over them and cords everywhere. I told Worth how I was just getting frustrated where I was working and he quickly put a plan into action. He is an amazing Contractor/Carpenter (Worth Grant Construction:)).

I wrote on Facebook the other day that I feel like I am working at an Apple Store.
Pretty pulls need to be added to the doors and drawers, and I am trying think what prints I want to be put on canvas for above my computer.
I am so thankful for my husband who is such a talented carpenter who can literally make nothing into something.

I am so excited to launch my new logo! It is perfect, clean and fresh, a bit of whimsy and elegance. I am totally in love. Now I can finally get new business cards and get this show on the road. And what a long road it has been to get this logo but thanks to Jen and a calligrapher in Texas I finally have exactly what I wanted!

I am also really looking forward to doing more wedding inspiration blog posts. I got a lot of great feedback while out in about, and well, it is just fun, especially in the slower season.

Inspired Wedding Gowns

As I have mentioned {a lot} I am designing a new website, and one of the things I talk about is how much I LOVE a wedding, especially the dress. I am just enchanted by them. To me it is almost magical. Photographing weddings always makes me want to redo mine, especially the dress, but of course not the handsome groom. I know this blog is meant to showcase my latest photography, but I also thought it would be nice to show you things that inspire me about weddings {and other things} so you get to know me a little bit better. I have come across these wedding dresses recently and I am completely in love with both of them. If I were forced to pick one it would be the top dress simply for that fabulous neckline. The dress is a Vera Wang and I found it on a wonderful wedding inspiration blog called Snippet and Ink.

Kaitlyn~ Final Atlanta Sessions

I feel like I have been M.I.A for a little bit. I have been completely absorbed in my new website I am designing. I am having to learn as I go while I am building so I am sure it is taking much longer then it should, but I am super excited about the results. I have also been working with a calligrapher and my sweet friend Jen on my logo. I can't wait to reveal, it has been trapped in my mind for a really long time. Margaret has been helping me with design and grammar :). I could not be more grateful for these ladies. Check out their sites while you are on the ol' computer.
So sweet little Kaitlyn was my final photo session while I was in Atlanta. She is just precious and so full of personality! I had a lot of fun chasing her around with my camera. She is so active and had just turned one. I love that age! Thank you Kathryn letting me take pictures of Kaitlyn! It was pure joy.

I have one final Atlanta session to blog about but before I do I had to post these pictures of my sister and her family. I adore these images so much. I was so excited to be able to photograph my family, that is not something I get to do that often. I love the familiarity of family and I feel like it shows through in these images. I am particularly fond of these pictures because this is baby Stella's 1st professional photo session. Kelly and Andrew adopted Stella right before Christmas last year. She just fits into their family so beautifully you would never know she is not their biological daughter. Kelly's two boys adore her. They were all made for Stella. I hope you treasure these pictures as much as I do!

Katherine and Connor Atlanta Sessions part 4

I love photographing my friends children. It blows my mind that my highschool buddies have children and multiple children at that, of course so do I! I still see myself in my mind as 16, instead of double that number. I love seeing how these beautiful kids are so much like their parents in looks and personalities. I had the pleasure of photographing my friend Kim's children while in Atlanta. I have been seeing images of them on facebook and following them on their blog, but never met in person. Katherine is just as sweet and as vivacious as her mom. Sweet Connor slept most of the time, but when he woke up he was all smiles! Such a fun visit and photo session.

The Webb Family- Atlanta Photo Sessions part 3

While on the Atlanta trip I revisted the Webb family. The last time I was there Wyler was just 2 weeks old! Look at how much he has grown in the last 6 months. With my own children I don't notice the gradual changes, but goodness when you have not seen a newborn in 6 months it makes me realize how fast my girls are growing! Wyler and older brother Whit were just as sweet as ever. You can tell that these boys are going to be the best of friends.

Atlanta Photo Session Part 2

The Beebe Family was first on my list of portrait sessions in Atlanta. They have a son William and a brand new baby boy, James. I am always amazed when I go into a home of a family I have never met and everything is so calm, especially with a newborn! I always wonder what their secrets are to the calmness.
There were several requests for these pictures, a family shot, we just moved shot, and a newborn session. We got all of them done and of course I love them but of course my favorites are the impromptu playful ones!

This is most likely my last post before Christmas and I just want to wish you all a very Merry Christmas. Thank you to all my clients who have allowed me into their homes and invited me to their weddings to capture all those very special moments! You all are the best.

Oh how I adore these last two pictures of William playing in the front door. It takes a bit of work to get a 2 year old to warm up to the camera and a strange person taking their pictures. I like to just follow the toddlers around and see what they get into on their own without their parents around. This is what William chose to do, I think he thought he could get away from me and my lens! We just made it into a game.

Atlanta Photo Sessions part 1

I always love this photo session! This is my 3rd time photographing Susan's family. When I was in Atlanta last fall (you can see those pictures HERE) I did the whole family's pictures and sweet little Bo was only a few months old at the time, now look at how big he has gotten. He cracked me up too! Thomas is also growing like a weed. Sumner (one of my best friend's from high school) just had a baby, Wesley to add to the family pictures. I love watching as these families grow and more members are added.
I hope your holidays are filled with much love and laughter and of course family!

Hi! I am still here. Just been a busy worker bee taking photos and getting them all edited for the great Christmas Card rush. I recently went down to Atlanta where I had 5 portrait sessions!!! How sweet you are Atlanta! Before I went down to my old homeland I had a portrait session with our dear friends Steve and Erin Kimmel and their precious 5 month old VivieLou. You might remember me taking Erin's maternity pictures over the summer.
We took the photos at The Botanical Gardens in Asheville. That is a gorgeous spot and I am going to be taking advantage of those gardens more! VivieLou might be one of the sweetest babies in the world (well besides my girls) and of course I adore Steve and Erin. It is so much fun taking pictures of friends. That familiarity really shows through the lens.

Kevin, Miley, and Mary Blake~Lovely cousins~Asheville Photographer

I recently went to Flat Rock, NC to take pictures of lovely cousins. Miley and Mary Blake are sisters and Kevin is their older cousin. I met Eli and Catherine the moms of these precious cousins at Highland Lake Inn where Catherine has a sweet little cabin. It was a nice quiet get away for my family too. It just felt so peaceful which is always nice to experience!

Ben and Julie got married~ Black Mountain Wedding Photographer

Well actually they got married almost a month ago but I am just now able to post the pictures. As you know this wedding was particularly special to me because it was my brother-in-law getting married. My sweet BellaRose was one of the flower girls and my husband was a groomsmen. It was a new and different experience being the photographer for my family, but still fun none the less.
Ben and Julie got married at Camp Merri-Mac in Black Mountain, and had the reception there. Merri-Mac is also super special to me as I went to summer camp there and worked there for many many years.
These pictures are some of my favorites, and of course the picture on the left is my all time favorite :)!

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas!

Well folks, it is that time of year, the time of year everyone is ready to get their portraits done for Christmas presents and Christmas cards. I am thrilled to be part of this process. I adore Christmas so it gets me so excited when people ask me to take their photos.
Last year my friend's mom in Atlanta gave my portrait sessions to two of her best friends for Christmas. For one reason or another the sessions kept getting moved back and I finally made it there to fulfill these gift certificates. This by the way is an awesome Christmas present to someone, a portrait session with Sunday Grant Photography!!!
I got to reunite with the Gilmer family and get some pictures of Glenn Elizabeth and Wren. They were so sweet and it was really fun to meet back with them. It seemed they felt much more familiar with me then the last time I was there. Thank you so much Lindsey! I had a blast!

I recently got one of my best friends a image I had taken of her son on canvas. It turned out phenomenally well. I was so pleased. It brought tears to her eyes (and mine).
Consider putting an image you love on canvas. It takes the away the need for a frame and really stands out as a beautiful art piece.

Wedding packages include a engagement session or bridal session along with an 8x10 image of your choice matted. Ben and Julie choose 2 8x10's matted for their guest book. It turned out beautiful along with a 5x7 image of their hands.

Well I am particularly excited about this photo shoot since it is my brother in law and in less then 4 days my sister in law!!! Ben and Julie are getting married on Saturday at the beautiful Camp Merri-Mac in Black Mountain. We went out on a gorgeous fall Sunday afternoon to take some engagement pictures for them and it was a lot of fun. We just are so excited to have Julie in our family and that Ben found his special lady love. The pictures pretty much speak for themselves in regards to their affection for one another!

Marilyn and Randy Get Married: Part 3 The Ceremony

Randy is a Georgia boy and the Georgia BullDawgs were playing so of course there were many checks of the score!

Marilyn and Randy both carried "something old" from family.  Randy had this watch of his grandfather's and Marilyn had wedding bands tied around her bouquet of several of the grandparents.  I LOVED that!

Ok so I am a little out of order with the pictures. I was loading the images backwards for this post, and I was going to do a lot of pictures, but then realized there were just too many that I loved. So I am going to be out of order, but these pictures are just so darn fun, as are Marilyn and Randy! Marilyn and Randy Get Married: Part 1~The Details

I met Marilyn and Randy minutes before the ceremony was to begin, normally I meet the couples for an engagement or bridal session, but since Marilyn and Randy live in Oregon that just did not happen. I can honestly tell you that I feel like I have known them forever! They are so wonderful and friendly, and SO in love. I was so honored to be a part of their wedding. I think that photographs are the most important part of a wedding, they are what remind you of your special day and all the time, thought, and consideration that went into planning this one amazing night. That being said I really do feel blessed to be chosen as someone's photographer. They are putting a lot of trust in me!
I love a wedding, plain and simple, they are just so much fun. They gather people together who would otherwise never meet. One of the things I love the most is the details and special touches. Marilyn told me that her Uncle really helped her with the table setting design and sadly could not be there for the event, so the details were really important to her as well. So this is the details blog post!
Melissa at Asheville Event Company was the event planner and did such an amazing job. Studio Flora Diva was the creativity behind these beautiful flowers. Tiffany's Baking Co. made the delicious (believe me, I tried them, out of this world good!) cupcakes and pies. The wedding was held at a gorgeous brand new venue in Weaverville called Deer Creek Run. It is definitely worth checking out as all these vendors are!
Now on to the pictures!

The table names were the towns related to the bride and groom. Such a great idea!

Back from vacation!

Been awhile since I posted last. We just got back from a wonderfully full vacation to Oak Island. My camera has also been in the shop getting cleaned and some repairs so I took all of these with my husbands little canon elph. It was nice carrying around a small light camera!

Alex and Ashleigh get married~ Part 3

So here is the final installment of Alex and Ashleigh's wedding in Blowing Rock. Like I have mentioned, it was just so much fun with all the dancing and Salsa music!

This was a fun newlyweds game the maid of honor put together. She would ask them a question about their first kiss and who said I love your first, and they would have to answer who initiated it first. Such a cute idea.

Don't you just love it when one of your old time favorite songs comes on and everyone gets so excited and starts to cheer. It does not matter if you just listened to that song on your iPod it is always just different when you are at a wedding dancing and you hear that song (even for the photographer).

Alex and Ashleigh's wedding slideshow

So this is a new way I am trying a slideshow so if it does not work please let me know! I had way too many pictures I wanted to share so I thought a slideshow would be best. Jen photographed the wedding with me and did an awesome job with gorgeous images. I have a few in the slideshow and they were supposed to be the final 6, but it is out of order. I do apologize about that! These are just some of the getting ready shots, the ceremony, and after. There is the one image that Jen took of Alex laughing with the groomsmen at the reception. That will be just a tease for you of the fun reception pictures. They tore up the dance floor. SO much fun! Blowing Rock Wedding Part 1

Well I am in the process of editing the pictures from Alex and Ashleigh's wedding, but I am so excited that I just had to share a few. This wedding was a blast. First the ceremony was in Blowing Rock at Broyhill Park. I have had the pleasure of photographing a wedding there in the past. Just Gorgeous! The groom's family is from Columbia and the Latin flair to this wedding was spectacular. Oh the Salsa dancing was amazing and it was all this photographer could do not to cut a rug! The reception was at Meadowbrook Inn. It was fun being back in Blowing Rock since I went to school in Boone and worked at a couple of restaurants in Blowing Rock.
I am also super excited because I had Jen second shooting with me. I have to say we were a pretty awesome team. I hope you like this little sneak peak. The Webb Family

Meet the Webb Family and their newest addition 2 week old(at the time of pictures) Wyler. Whit, the older brother, is 2 years old and Rebecca and Den are the parents. I was down in Atlanta recently for their portrait session. You will be seeing more of this sweet little family in future blog posts. I have to say I could not believe how peaceful the house was when I walked in. I am not sure my house has ever been that peaceful especially with a newborn baby. Rebecca and Den were just as calm as they could be. They were a joy to talk with and take pictures of.
These are a series of my favorites, but I am sure you can imagine which ones are my most favorite, but I will still tell you anyway :)

This one below I adore, there is just something about it and I can't really put my finger on it. I love coming back to this one. I also of course love Whit's eyes in the 2 after that.

The beautiful Riggsbee girls!

A couple of weeks ago a friend (Shanna) of a friend (Jessica), who is just now my friend came into town with her girls. She asked me to take photos at her parents' property in Asheville. They have several acres in North Asheville. They don't have a home built yet (maybe they should have Worth do it :)) but the land is beautifully landscaped with rock walls and water features all throughout. It is like a little oasis. So perfect. Shanna has 2 little girls Gracen and Avery. They are precious and gorgeous and a lot of fun to take pictures of.

Meet Miles!

I adore these next two family shots.  It just explains what life is like with a baby and a dog without using any words.  The dog just licked Debbie right on the mouth.  It was a riot and maybe a little gross for Debbie!

Erin and Steve's maternity pictures

So these are my friends Erin and Steve, they WERE pregnant as of a day ago, but not any longer! They welcomed their sweet baby girl into the world last night around midnight. Her name is Vivienne Louise Kimmel and she weighed 7lbs 11oz. Erin's due date was last Saturday so we got this photo shoot in just in time! Erin is a labor and delivery nurse and Steve is a paramedic. They are pretty good friends to have around. Erin actually saw me both times in the hospital when I was having my girls. So comforting to see a friendly face, of course I think all those nurses at Mission are AMAZING!
Didn't Erin look amazing for being full term?
I hope you enjoy these photos and I hope to have some sweet newborn photos of Vivienne soon. I can't wait to meet this little girl. Worth is actually on his way to the hospital right now, I am a tad bit jealous!

The Obringer 4!

So this is the final photo session from my Atlanta trip. My friend Catherine has 4 kids now, last year when I photographed her kids it was just the Obringer 3! I was so happy to finally meet her 4th baby Will. He is precious and so big and so happy!
Tripp her oldest son LOVES legos so it was really fun to photograph him in his element.

This is Jack he is the 2nd oldest boy. Let me tell you these kids have some BLUE eyes!

This is Charlotte, the 3rd child and only girl. I love that she has three brothers to look after her.

Catherine wanted me to get some pictures of their feet and I was happy to oblige as I LOVE taking pictures of hands and feet!

And finally sweet baby William! He was born in October and you can tell that the teeth are coming in only because of the drool, you would never know with his personality, so sweet!

Corinne and Candler

Well I am back from vacation! It was a wonderfully relaxing (as relaxing as it can be with 2 kids) beach trip to the Isle of Palms. It went by way too fast as most vacations have the habit of doing, but amazing all the same!
I want to pick up where I left off with my Atlanta sessions. My 3rd portrait session was with my friend Ryan's 2 children, Corinne and Candler. Ryan and I were both pregnant at the same time with BellaRose and Corinne, Ryan was due after me, but had Corinne before BellaRose was ready, ah such is life. These kids are just so darn cute. My friends really make some beautiful babies! Corinne is delicious! There really is no other way to put it with her cute little dimple and chocolate brown eyes! Candler is just a sweet little baby, so quiet and mellow. What a pair!
I have one more Atlanta session to share with you before I hit the road back to Atlanta this weekend and take a couple of more portrait sessions. One of them with be with a brand new baby! Stay tuned.

Do you all remember Emerson from last year? I took her 2 year old pictures and now here are her 3 year old pictures. She is the daughter of one of my real good friends. She is precious! Her and BellaRose are only a few months apart in age and played SO well together. Emerson LOVES to sing and is just as adventurous as BellaRose. I had the chance to take pictures of Emerson all through out the day and through many outfit changes. It was so much fun!

Sweet Walker

So I went to Atlanta last weekend to photograph several different portrait sessions. It was so much fun going back to Atlanta and seeing some of my old friends from High School. It was a whirlwind trip that was packed full!
My first session was with Walker. I went to school with his mother, Erin. We photographed this session at Peachtree Dekalb Airport. It is just a little airport and they have park right by the tarmac. It was really neat seeing the little planes take off and land. The kids also loved it! This park is one of Walker's favorites so it was really fun to photograph this gorgeous little boy! Goodness! I just adore a wedding. There is so much emotion and time and energy put into a wedding. I always love the end results. I also love how the bride and groom don't expect to have as much fun as they actually do. There are so many nerves right before the ceremony starts but the minute the bride and groom lay eyes on each other everything is ok and the fun begins! I have loved these pictures of Nate and Abby's wedding that was at The Farm.

I love the horses grazing in the pasture and tractors at the barn next store. It just goes so well with a beautifully elegant wedding!

We wanted to wait until Nate and Abby got back from their honeymoon (in Costa Rica, SO jealous) to post pictures. I am still editing pictures from their gorgeous wedding, but here are a couple I just adore. Their wedding was at The Farm in Candler. It was a gorgeous venue and a beautifully windy day! I really had so much fun at this wedding and so much fun hanging out with Nate and Abby. They are such a fun couple!

The first image is of Abby trying to see Nate for the 1st time has her parents walk her down the aisle. So much excitement and anticipation. Once a bride and groom lay eyes on each other for the first time the butterflies and jitters go away and the fun begins.

Here are some of my favorite pictures from Nate and Abby's engagement shoot. It was so much fun having this time a week before the wedding. I think it got them even more excited about the big day! The weather is looking like it will be wonderful!

This shoot was neat because we were at Nate's family farm and this is where he proposed to Abby! It is gorgeous land out in Barnardsville. There dog, Cody (a German short hair) is like their child and they wanted him to be in the pictures. He did a great job and is SO regal!

I hope you enjoy the slideshow. I love looking at the pictures and in my mind I am wanting to tell you about each one and why I love it so much, but I will let you form your own opinion without my commentary.

If you have noticed I am in the process of re-designing my blog. You might have come here a few times now and seen something different every time. I guess you could say I am working on my branding. Something that is authentically me. We will see how it goes. I would love any and all input. How is the image size now? Do you like this blog layout? There are still many things to work on and change, but I think that this is a good start. I am constantly having to learn about this crazy computer world. Photography seemed much simpler when everything was done in a dark room, but it is time for me to live in the now!

I blew this picture of Will and BellaRose up to an 8x10. I got it professionally printed and the print really is outstanding. I think it is going to look just perfect in BellaRose's room.

This picture tells a million stories....Will eyeing the pez dispenser, BellaRose's dirty mouth and her complete intrigue with this new device. Life is so simple when you are 3.

Hands

I love the untraditional baby pictures, where the baby's face might not be the center of attention. I feel like these pictures say something and tell a bit of a story. Worth's hands are strong and pretty beat up but when he is holding his 6 week old baby girl then they are soft and tender. My heart clinches just a little bit when I see these images. There is nothing more handsome then a dad, in particular this dad, holding his girls. I also have loved hands. Forest Gump thinks that you can tell a lot about a person by their shoes, I think you can tell by their hands. I have mentioned that Grandma had my most favorite hands in the world. There was just something about them. They told a story to me of hard work, of holding babies, making pizelles, holding my hand.....

Hollings hands are so new they have not toughened up. They are so young and trusting, willing to grab onto anything and anybody.

Do your pictures tell a story? Do they really show who the people are? Can you look at them and say "yes, that is them exactly"?

Thoughts on printing

I recently ordered a print of this image through Kodak Gallery. I picked it up at CVS and was so not happy with the color or the quality. I was starting to get concerned that it was in my editing or that my computer screen was not calibrated correctly. Well then I ordered this print through WHCC, a printing company for professional photographers. I could not believe the difference. It came out exactly as I wanted.

I have been at such odds with the printing process of my pictures. I hate to not have that control as a photographer. Depending on where you get your printing done depends on how the image comes out. Bad printing reflects poorly on my photography. If you are going to the effort to pay a professional photographer shouldn't you go to the effort to get professional prints too? The difference in printing is profound.

Sister Love

Wow! Who knew life could get so busy and full and sad and wonderful. My beloved grandmother passed away last week. I will forever miss her and have a hole in my heart, but I know she is better and I know she is always watching out for me. I want to honor her and the best way for me to do that is to continue to take pictures and bring beauty and joy to people. Grandma's room was filled with pictures of her family and these baby girls below. Pictures are what kept her family close by. She could always look at them and see us smiling back at her. When all other material possessions became un-important to her, the pictures are what always stayed.

Renovations Part 2

I have been a bit on hiatus for awhile. Hollings is now 2 weeks old and I am adjusting to life being the mother of 2 precious little girls. I have put my photography on the back burner for a little bit as my pregnancy was finishing up and we welcomed Hollings home. It is time now for life to get back to normal. Although I am not sure what normal is quite yet!

I have some exciting weddings and portrait sessions booked in the spring and summer that I am really looking forward to. Keep spreading the word, my good people, about Sunday Grant Photography!

My final photography project before delivering Hollings, was to finish up the Renovation project with my friend Sally. Worth did a lot of the renovations to this home, and Sally is the project manager and designer. This bathroom is gorgeous people! You saw the guest bathroom several months ago, and part of this bathroom complete, now it is time to take in the beauty that is this bathroom!

As most of you know I am expecting our 2nd baby girl here in a few weeks. I will be taking some time off from photography as we welcome Hollings into our family. I wanted to take some pictures of the nursery for my personal blog and thought I should post some here as well. We spend so much time, energy, and thought into our sweet baby's nursery, shouldn't it be well documented as well?! Every little detail in the nursery you are thinking about your new little one. I know that a newborn could care less if the chandelier matches the crib, but maybe one day they might, or just one day they will look back on the images of the beautiful room they came home too and feel loved and knew that mom and dad put a lot of thought into their arrival.

My Niece~ Stella Mimi

We had some sweet sweetness enter our family on December 13th (my middle sister's birthday too). My niece, Stella Mimi, was born. We were hoping to get more pictures of her but I did manage to snap a few. If you are a "fan" of mine on facebook you can see more. If you are not a fan, then you should be. I had a trip planned to go to Atlanta this weekend, but the weather decided not to be pleasant and we cancelled the trip. It is probably a good idea as snow, ice, freezing temps., and being 33 weeks pregnant does not make for good traveling. I will be making these sessions up in the spring when Atlanta is at it's most beautiful and the kids don't have to have 18 layers on!

Harris Family

You guys all remember when I took pictures of the beautiful Thomas in Atlanta back in August. Well Susan was pregnant at the time and has since had another gorgeous little boy, Bo. She wanted new pictures of the complete family, and me wanting to see the new family member was happy to comply! Sumner, one of my best friends and Susan's younger sister, also has a new member of the family, Sweet Georgia, a 5 month old white lab. She of course needed to be in the pictures and was such a beautiful model too! It was a family affair for sure, as Tom and Dee (Sumner and Susan's parents) came over to get in on the family pictures. We were only missing Wes, Sumner's husband, who was in Athens to watch the Dawgs play. Sadly the Geaorgia Bulldogs did not pull through that game, but these pictures sure did :)!

A couple of weeks ago I had the privilege of taking pictures at The Gardener's Cottage Christmas open house in Biltmore Village. This is THE cutest store. I LOVED it. It is like a little hidden gem. Last week I took pictures of The Sims Family consisting of Terry, Merridy, Steele, and Spence. It was a gorgeous windy day! I love it when the weather is like it was, it makes for some amazing pictures. This family was of course so full of energy with 2 boys. I love the ones where someone is blurry because it shows you action and just how active these little men were. There is one in particular where Merridy is in focus walking down the tree lined road and both the boys are a blur and Terry is a little bit as well. I just LOVE that one!

Fall pictures of Abbie!

I had the privilege of taking pictures of Sweet Abbie the other week at Sky Top Orchard in Flat Rock, NC. Shannon, Abbie's mom, came up with taking pictures there and it really was a gorgeous setting! You should go there if you get the chance. Flat Rock is just a neat little town anyway.

I seem to keep taking pictures of kids with outrageously gorgeous blue eyes. I keep thinking I can't possible find another child with as pretty eyes as the last, but I do! Abbie's eyes were ice blue sometimes and darker blue other times. Just beautiful! She is so cute too which helps when taking pictures. Wes, Abbie's dad, had to work so I will be taking some family pictures of them real soon. Looking forward to that time with this wonderful family!

Here are few more pictures from Hannah and Kelvin's wedding. I just love the pictures of Hannah walking with her dad toward Kelvin. Such a special moment that is symbolic of so much! I also love Hannah's veil in these. Like I mentioned it was so windy and the veil was everywhere but made for some great pictures.

I hope to finish up these wedding pictures this week. I have a portrait session with the sweet little Abbie to share with you very soon. I also took pictures at The Gardner's Cottage Christmas Open House. What a beautiful little shop in Biltmore Village. It is like a little secret with beautiful gifts and ornaments. Hannah and Kelvin: Part 1

As I have mentioned Hannah and Kelvin tied the knot this past weekend at The Crest Center & Pavilion in Asheville. The facility is just gorgeous, overlooking all of Asheville. It was a perfect place to be for peak leaf weekend and a wedding. The weather was constantly changing. I got there and it was 65 and blue skies and by the time the ceremony started I would say it dropped 20 degrees at least and the clouds and wind rolled in, but it was still SO beautiful.

This cake was made by Cortney Hall. She grew up with Hannah in Weaverville and is one of the most talented cake bakers I have ever seen! She is currently living in Knoxville, TN so if you are in that area you HAVE to get her to bake you a cake! Every ounce of this cake (except the ribbon) is edible. The details in the flowers is unreal. I will have more pictures on another post. I just wanted to share a few details.

The final pictures are of Hannah and Kelvin before the ceremony. I really love those moments pre-ceremony. It is just so fun to watch people in their final hours of singledom.

Hannah unveiled!

So you all remember when I took Hannah's bridal pictures back in August? Well I can finally unveil them to you since she got married last night! With my wedding packages I offer a bridal session or an engagement session, Hannah chose a Bridal session. We decided to shoot at the Grove Park and it was a gorgeous day! It was windy, but it made for some great veil shots!

I am looking forward to having the wedding pictures of Hannah and Kelvin up, but that will probably be next week.

Renovations

Worth has been working on this house below with Sally who is a project manager and a designer. She asked me to take pictures of the before, during and after pictures of the renovations. This is the guest bathroom. Isn't it gorgeous! This house has come a long way. I can't wait to show the girls' bathroom.

I am working on my blog so bare with me. I think that slideshow I just did is making everything move around. I am trying to pick a different layout so it all works. I will have to come back to it though since I am going to celebrate my nephew's birthday today!

The Obringer 3 ~ Atlanta Photographer

So my final portrait session in Atlanta was with another best friend, Catherine, from High School's 3 kids. She is pregnant with her 4th due in October so one day we will have pictures of the Obringer 4! Her kids are GORGEOUS just like the last 2 sessions kids, and you want to talk about some blue eyes, all 3 of her kids have her magnificent blue eyes! I feel like my pictures don't transfer to the blog well. I am still working on that, but I think you can get a pretty good idea of how beautiful these children are. They are so active too! Tripp is the oldest, Jack is the middle, and Charlotte the baby girl (and will be the only girl as Cat is expecting another boy!). We took pictures in her parent's newly re-done backyard complete with a putting green and fountain! I spent A LOT of time at this house when I was in High School, so just like the barn it was good to be "home".

Emerson ~ Atlanta Photographer

My second portrait session in Atlanta was with Emerson Courage. She is my good friend Rebecca's 2 year old little girl. She is SO much fun too. I wish I had a video of her voice. It is the cutest thing ever. It is raspy and Bec says it sounds just her voice when she was little. Emerson is the life of the party! We decided to go to Chastain Stables in Atlanta to take pictures. This place is so special to my heart because it was where I grew up riding horses spending hours upon hours in that old barn. Well that old barn is no longer there, and has since been replaced by a much prettier and nicer barn, but the beautiful barn smells are still there! It was fun to follow Emerson around there and hear her talk to the horses. Emerson like Thomas (pictures below) has beautiful blue eyes. They are so much fun to photograph. Emerson also LOVES Thomas the Train!

Thomas Harris ~ Atlanta Photographer

I just got back from a wonderful visit to Atlanta where I got to see some awesome friends and I took A LOT of pictures. I had three portrait sessions. The first one was Thomas Harris. Thomas' mom, Susan, and I go way back. Her younger sister, Sumner, is one of my Best Friends from Lovett where I went to school in Atlanta. Susan was the first person I met when I went to my new high school, she showed me all around and introduced me to lots of people, one of them being Sumner! Anyway some 16/17 years later I am now taking pictures of Susan and Kevin's precious son, Thomas. He has some of the most incredible eyes I have ever seen. They change colors in all sorts of light. He was SO much fun too. So full of energy. They also have one of the best backyards in all of Atlanta.

Thomas LOVES "Thomas the Train". He gave me full narrations on all of his separate trains. It was hysterical. He was SO animated and very serious about his trains!

The beautiful Harris family. You would never know it, but Susan is about to have baby #2 any day now, possibly this weekend! They don't know what they are having yet and I can hardly wait to hear the news. One thing I do know is it will be another beautiful baby, just like Thomas.

Lake Lure with the Mascaro's

Melissa and Ian are getting married!

I met Melissa and Ian at Montford Park in Asheville to get some engagement pictures of them. They are getting married at the beautiful Homewood in Montford in September. I can't wait for their wedding!! I had found this pretty rock in a creek that would be beautiful for some pictures. Nothing like first thing in the morning going rock hopping in your dress up clothes! They were such good sports.

Then we went over to Homewood to get pictures in front of the gorgeous stone building! I have been to several weddings here now and they are all just beautiful!

Our final stop in our excursion was Nine Mile, their favorite restaurant and where they got engaged.

It was SO much fun taking pictures of this sweet sweet couple who are so connected!

Sister and Mother trip to Hilton Head

Here is Annie and her gorgeous pregnant self. She is almost 8 months pregnant and the cutest ever. I have never met a woman who loves being pregnant so much!! Every time she touches the belly she giggles. It is the sweetest thing I have ever seen. She is so comfortable in her own skin and I know her child will benefit from that. Speaking of child we can't wait to hear what they are having, they are waiting for the moment of truth...delivery day!

So do you all remember cute preggars Niki? Well here is the result of being 9 months (technically 10 months) pregnant, 4 week old Julia! She is so, so, sweet and just a joy to take pictures of. Niki is so happy as you can see by the pictures below.

I am looking forward to the coming months! Sunday Grant Photography has several portrait sessions booked. I will be doing a maternity session, a newborn portrait session, an engagement shoot and in September their wedding, and a family beach portrait session. Such exciting time. I so appreciate everyone's support. Word of mouth is the best marketing so keep it up!

Beckett, is Matt and Margaret's 3 week old sweetie little boy! Oh my goodness is he precious and just so good and peaceful. Margaret just might be the most put together newborn momma I have ever seen. Peace reigns over the house. It was such an honor and a pleasure to take pictures of them. Thank you so much for sharing him with me!

NC Arboretum

We went to the NC arboretum yesterday and these tulips were in full bloom. I could have taken pictures of them all day! I feel like these images almost look like a monet painting or something. I am in LOVE with my 85mm f/1.4 lens!!!!!!!
